Junie B. Jones And A Little Monkey BusinessJulyBy Faith Studio$Free$10

By Barbara Parks

For its major show of the 2009 season, Hope Productions, Inc. has chosen Barbara Parks' spunky musicalized adaption of her best-selling Junie B. Jones series, blending elements of more than twenty of her adventures into the sprightly Junie B. Jones and a Little Monkey Business, for which she wrote not only the book but the pleasant and upbeat music and lyrics.  Junie B's world comes to zestful comic life, managing to entertain the young and the young at heart in equal measure.

The fairly slight story revolves around Junie B's coping with the fact that a baby brother is due at her house, as well as her usual adventures in the wild and wacky world of kindergarten. When the baby is born, Junie's Grandma declares him "the cutest little monkey", and sight unseen, Junie B. decides that this news is the perfect thing to share at her classes next show and tell. Though the truth comes out, Junie's disappointment is relatively short-lived, thanks to her resilience, and she shows signs of becoming a loving and supportive older sister.

Midsummer is one of Shakespeare’s most beloved comedies.  It is a mixed-up tale of four lovers, some amateur actors, and some  very cunning fairies who wreak havoc on everyone’s lives.  It is a fun story with lots of parts, exciting costumes, and lots of challenges.  20 to 25 cast members.

Shakespeare in Cricket County
NovemberTBA$Free$7

By Eddie McPherson

Shakespeare? Elkin Taylor and his kinfolk down home in the hollow never heard of him. When city-cultured Mrs. Featherred hears about Elkin’s huge inheritance, she visits Cricket County with two Shakespearean actors eager to get an endowment for her theatre. But when “Romeo and Juliet” perform with their lofty language, the kinfolk haven’t a clue about what is going on. Even their confused dog, Mudhole, attacks them. Pile on one silly misunderstanding after another and mix it together with madcap action, you have a hilarious hillbilly play that’s fun for both the performers and the audience.
